چکیده
‘The Planets’ combines a novel approach for algorithmic composition with new human-computer interaction paradigms and realistic painting techniques. The main inspiration for it was the composition ‘The Planets’ from Gustav Holst who portrayed each planet in our solar system with music. Our application allows to interactively compose music in real-time by arranging planet constellations on an interactive table. The music generation is controlled by painted miniatures of the planets and the sun which are detected by the table and supplemented with an additional graphical visualization, creating a unique audio-visual experience. A video of the application can be found in [1].

Exponential law as a more compatible model to describe orbits of planetary systems
According to the Titus-Bode law, orbits of planets in the solar system obey a geometric progression. Many investigations have been launched to improve this law. In this paper, we apply square and exponential models to planets of solar system, moons of planets, and some extra solar systems, and compare them with each other.
متن کاملThe Search for Other Earths: Limits on the Giant Planet Orbits That Allow Habitable Terrestrial Planets to Form
Gas giant planets are far easier than terrestrial planets to detect around other stars, and are thought to form much more quickly than terrestrial planets. Thus, in systems with giant planets, the late stages of terrestrial planet formation are strongly affected by the giant planets’ dynamical presence. Observations of giant planet orbits may therefore constrain the systems that can harbor pote...
متن کاملPredicting Planets in Known Extra-Solar Planetary Systems III: Forming Terrestrial Planets
Recent results have shown that many of the known extrasolar planetary systems contain regions which are stable for both Earth-mass and Saturn-mass planets. Here we simulate the formation of terrestrial planets in four planetary systems – 55 Cancri, HD 38529, HD 37124, and HD 74156 – under the assumption that these systems of giant planets are complete and that their orbits are well-determined. ...
متن کاملOrbital Evolution and Migration of Giant Planets: Modeling Extrasolar Planets
Giant planets in circumstellar disks can migrate inward from their initial (formation) positions. Radial migration is caused by inward torques between the planet and the disk; by outward torques between the planet and the spinning star; and by outward torques due to Roche lobe overflow and consequent mass loss from the planet. We present self-consistent numerical considerations of the problem o...
متن کاملMetallicity of solar-type stars with debris discs and planets
Context. Around 16% of the solar-like stars in our neighbourhood show IR-excesses due to dusty debris discs and a fraction of them are known to host planets. Determining whether these stars follow any special trend in their properties is important to understand debris disc and planet formation. Aims. We aim to determine in a homogeneous way the metallicity of a sample of stars with known debris...
متن کاملEccentricity Evolution of Extrasolar Multiple Planetary Systems due to the Depletion of Nascent Protostellar Disks
Most extrasolar planets are observed to have eccentricities much larger than those in the solar system. Some of these planets have sibling planets, with comparable masses, orbiting around the same host stars. In these multiple planetary systems, eccentricity is modulated by the planets’ mutual secular interaction as a consequence of angular momentum exchange between them. For mature planets, th...
